I just read the twelfth. I must say I do like your music but your politics leaves something to be desired. Anyway don't give up on the Music. Keep it coming.

I have long enjoyed performances of DBFS and your witty commentary, Ron. I am pleased that you sent me notice of your posted rants. I figured I was tough enough and have read them. There is much with which I disagree, but respect you for putting your thoughts out there.
I do have to call you out on one of your issues in your defamation of the Tea Party folks with the sexual perjorative term "teabaggers". Please look it up in Urban dictionary or Wikipedia and I'm sure you will want to withdraw your usage.
I looked up the sixth amendment to discover that I knew it except by number. Do you suppose that the amendment applies to citizens of this great country or does it apply to those who declare war on us, attack us, and are then captured on the battlefield? Just asking.

Bernie

Admin reply: Howdy Bernard, and thank for taking time to respond. You are the second person who has pointed me to something called the Urban Dictionary. I was unaware that there was such a dictionary, and I certainly was unaware that the term Tea Bagger had a pejorative meaning. I do regret that. My only defense is that when the members of the Tea Party in my county had a rally they referred to themselves as Tea Baggers. The same happened for a rally in Denver in which the members of the Party invited “fellow Tea Baggers” to attend in a newspaper ad. Seeing as how the term has appeared in magazines and been repeated in various media reports I am wondering if this might be a term that has more than one meaning; like, desert. I am also aware of several other terms that I have heard in what might be called “urban” use that clearly mean things other than the “general vocabulary” meaning, and these can often be heard in modern lyrics. I did not mean any disrespect with the term, but I will stand by my opinion that until I hear some specifics about how we’re supposed to lower taxes and still pay our bills their key position seems a little irrational to me. Your question about the Sixth Amendment is a good one. While I suppose a good case could be made that “rights” belong to everyone, my only point was that they definitely belong to American citizens and, therefore, not to try people who violate American citizens in their own districts as the Amendment guarantees is a violation of the rights of those Americans. I feel pretty strongly that we have a right to see and face those who break our laws. I realize that this is not a very popular view amongst folks who want to take away our rights, but I do not mean to offend even those; they have their own opinions about our rights. Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments and please excuse all this in one paragraph; it’s the only way the Guest Book will print it. RT

Ron and troupe. Thanks very much for sharing your talents. We saw you two or three years ago at the Huck Finn Jubilee at Victorville. We really enjoyed your show there!
As to your rants, I applaude your flair for the King's english. I too am a big fan of Fox news!!!
Har har de har har har (Really!) But, I digress, you have a fine music and rant talent. You have escaped the fate of a group known as the Dixie Chicks. A previous guest book blogger suggested a dvd format for your rant. I would suggest a combination rant/bluegrass delivery similar to a former artist known as Victor Borga. Heck, I can take a jab or three in my conservative ribs! The combination of the music, rant and command of the King's english help me, for one, to take today's global degredation in stride!
We would like to see you perform in the San Diego area. There is a fantastic venue at Concerts by the Bay and at Humphrey's (We saw Allison Krauss there).
Keep on keeping on!
Dave

Admin reply: Howdy Dave,Thanks so much for the kind words. We do hope to get to the Bay area several times a year. We were there in March and will be at HSB in October. That's a lot for folks our age. I hope we see you there; please say, "Howdy-do." RT

Hi Ron, Just read your rant. Me thinks you are not a biblical scholar and are going by the words of man who claim to be so. Therein lies the rub. Because of that you think there is not scripture re a fetus being a person. Haven't you read in Luke? Mary, when the angel Gabriel (which means man of God) told Mary she was conceiving Jesus (which means YHVH's savior) went right over to Elizabeth, her cousin's house who was 6 months pregnant with John, the baptist, who lept in her womb at the present of Jesus in Mary's womb. Thanks for continuing with your rants, Ron. They're dead on and should get published as op-ed pieces in prominent newspapers. And of course the rightness of what you say is tempered by your humor. Will Rogers would have approved.

Hi, Ron,
My wife and I loved seeing you at the Palms Playhouse one dark and stormy night not that long ago. I also just finished your latest installment, which liked very much (my wife leaves the slogging through heavy stuff like that to me). I wish you could meet a friend of mine. He's an ex marine decorated for his service in Vietnam. He's also a founder of Physicians for social responsibility, a very liberal (even as you use the term) organization devoted to the ideal of helping mankind. He ran for Congress against Dan Lundgren, one of California's true Neanderthals. He almost won, but he was too liberal for the National Party, which refused to help with funding and, well, money is still the name of the game. His name is Bill Durston. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable of the inexcusable waste and inefficiencies of our current heath care system. He's also written one of the most compelling anti-war songs I've ever heard.

Best to you and yours,

Taylor Carey

Looking forward to seeing and hearing you at the Festival of the Bluegrass in Lexington KY in June. Please play "The Devil Take the Farmer". It seems very relevant in these times. Thanks
